Craniosacral therapy originated from osteopathy. The word has its origin in cranium, which is the skull bone; and sacrum, meaning sacral. In our body there are three types of fluids: blood, lymphatic fluid, and craniosacral fluid. This craniosacral fluid, also known as cerebrospinal fluid, flows from the head along the spinal cord towards the sacrum and back. It surrounds our brains and our central nervous system.
The craniosacral fluid system is the most basic system of our body. The flow of craniosacral fluid has a certain rhythm. For a trained person, this rhythm as well as the blockades of this flow can be felt throughout the body. By noticing the cranio-sacral rhythm in various places in the body and going along with this rhythm, a deep relaxation is created.

After a brief chat you are invited to lie down on the massage table. Through gentle touching, the therapist explores the tensions in the connective tissue and at every step in the treatment he notices an manipulates all local stresses in the tissue which invites to relax.
By the soft touch and treatment of the tense areas and by your own empathy, quick or gradual changes can occur.
It is possible to experience a feeling of heat or cold, tension or relaxation and even memories can come up, which may involve the shedding of emotional feelings.
It is also possible that the body spontaneously gets in a certain position or has certain movements during the treatment. In this case, understanding, respect and attention of the therapist are essential key values. The therapist will invite you (if you want) to talk about what you perceive and feel.
You always decide yourself whether this is your wish or not. It is the cranio-sacral therapist's intention to lead people to their self-healing powers through profound and yet soft sessions. A session is a gift for yourself!
During the treatment (which lasts 1h15 to 1h30) you lie down wearing comfortable clothing and you undergo a thorough session which will give you a huge energy boost. Craniosacral therapy can relieve for example back pains and hernias, depressions, migraines, sinus problems, lack of energy, insomnia, stomach and intestinal problems, mental and sexual abuse, pain, whip-lash, stress and burnouts, anxiety, arthritis, loneliness.
The teachers have been trained and approved by Upledger International. This means they are all craniosacral therapist in heart and soul and have a basic training as an osteopath, manual therapist, physiotherapist or psychologist.
The certificates handed out by the UIB are recognized and accepted in all Upledger Institutes in Europe, Asia, South America and the United States.
